Tattoodo

Tattoodo launched in 2013, and have raised more than $15m USD from some of the most prominent Venture firms in the world, to become the largest community for the Global tattoo industry. We are the #1 global destination for tattoo collectors, artists, and shops, offering original and curated content, a dedicated community, and the exclusive feature of being able to book tattoo appointments around the world. We are creating a two-sided marketplace and introducing the first digital booking platform for the tattoo industry. An indicator that Tattoodo is onto something comes from the important people backing us, involving both Christian Stadil, Daniel Agger, Jimmy Maymann and Tom Ryan from Threadless. The platform has staff writers all around the world and is also striving for an international atmosphere, with a New York office. The office culture is casual: wearing sneakers and listening to loud old-school hip hop is just fine. Striving to be a fun, creative and ambitious place, the employees of Tattoodo are qualified people. On regular Friday events, you learn both about tattoo lifestyle and art. The path from idea to action is short, and while people aren’t as tattooed as you might imagine, everyone holds a huge interest in the culture. The co-founder Ami James, known from Miami Ink, jumped on a plane right away when he heard about the Tattoodo idea. Since then we’ve come a long way: Our social following has grown to more than 20 million followers across its platforms, with record monthly reach of 200 million users and 2 billion impressions.

Glimty - Something Norwegian

We have decided to change the direction of being a gifting marketplace to a marketplace focusing on Norwegian quality products. We want to gather smaller Norwegian brands and businesses together to strengthen their position against the larger corporations. We need to make it easier to find and buy good Norwegian local products as well as trying to change consumers buying behavior step by step. From the mall to Glimty to support the smaller ones. If we want to keep the uniqueness and variety of our market within our borders, we need to act now.Glimty - Something Norwegian.  We started Glimty because we saw that during the last couple of years having an online store has become more of a nuisance than an advantage to many businesses. Each of these new stores simply makes the ecommerce space even more crowded for local, well-crafted and original products. Furthermore, online stores are becoming difficult to navigate and currently have very low conversion rates. Our solution takes on the challenge of improving the customer experience of existing online stores and marketplaces to the level of personalization only provided by a visit to an actual physical store. We have built the best solution in the market to guarantee that the customer receives online assistance from a semi-automated digital clerk resulting in a higher conversion rate and potential recurring customers. We have partnered with a number of independent and small Norwegian retailers and Norwegian made products/Services as we want to give these companies a voice and a chance to compete with the larger brands and companies that saturate the market due to their huge marketing budgets. We provide an increased likelihood of a customer to purchase one of our partner’s products as every interaction occurs through one-on-one conversations when the user is already in the mindset of making a purchase of a gift. We also offer their products in personalized collections. They obtain a commercialization channel totally focused on the shopping experience of the customer. The benefits of being featured in our store, blog or chatbot describing the characteristics of the products increases their marketing reach, obtaining customers that discover these products whilst in the mindset of buying gifts. Daniel and James met each other 2 years ago and have been studying many frameworks and theories of entrepreneurship and innovation throughout their master studies at University of Oslo. Being students we started with little and so we had to rely on our ability to adapt to any situation by implementing and recombining our resources in an innovative way, in particular through our connections and networks. The gifting aspect is just the first phase and a method for introducing the Chatbot Technology into the Norwegian market. This approach also came from the experience that our CEO, Susanne Wesner, obtained by founding a company in 2015 and suffering first hand the struggle of building a business relying solely on an ecommerce store as a source of revenue. Daniel built that first version of an automated customer assistance system for Susanne’s business, and with feedback and work from Susanne and James, the team continued developing the solution towards the technology that Glimty is introducing to the market.

Wolt (FI)

Wolt is a Finnish technology company and we’re best known for our food delivery platform. On our mobile app or website, customers can order their favorite meals from our restaurant partners, and either pick their order up or have it delivered by our courier partners. We’re currently active in 22 countries and more than 80 cities, servicing over 5 million customers. Our apps (iOS and Android) have the industry’s highest reviews, largely because of our customer-centric approach to how we build our products and operations. For example, our customer service team responds in a matter of seconds, in the customer’s own language. We’ve raised €258M in financing from renowned U.S. and European based investors, such as ICONIQ Capital, 83North, EQT Ventures, Highland Europe and Goldman Sachs Growth Equity. We've also been fortunate enough to receive some appreciation and recognition for our hard work along the way: Apple selected Wolt’s app as their Editors' Choice, Wired named the company one of the "Hottest Startups in Europe," Forbes included our CEO Miki Kuusi on its 30-under-30 in Consumer Tech list, and the Nordic Startup Awards named Wolt Company of the Year. In 2020 we were recognized as the fastest growing tech company in Europe by the Financial Times. Wolt is more than just a food delivery operation – in fact we are built upon a solid foundation of state-of-the-art technology. Our internal tooling enables us to ramp up new cities efficiently and provide excellent customer service, our own logistics platform allows us to optimise our couriers’ work to get you the food you want as fast as possible, and our restaurant platform allows restaurants to offer exciting food experiences for our customers in an optimal way.

Poikilingo

Poikilingo is developing an adaptive language learning app for bilingual children, where social and cultural awareness are at the heart of our concept. Our program focuses on the cultural aspects of the language being learned, as we believe that cracking the social code is as important as learning vocabulary and pronunciation. This promotes a sense of belonging which will positively impact the child's learning process. We believe that each child is unique, so each of them deserves a study program that takes into consideration their peculiarities. The customized plan mixes activities, videos, songs and games, and adapts its level of difficulty according to the speed at which the child learns. We follow a consolidated learning approach that teaches different subjects through the language, all created by educational experts and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. But the game-changing experience that Poikilingo brings into the market is based on animated stories where an avatar of the child goes through the culture clashes between her own culture and the one she is learning about. In societies with a high number of immigrants, it can both ease the integration of immigrant children, and also help to preserve the heritage language of descendants.
