Welcome to Children of Ash, an ongoing research project devoted to Viking ornamental art and its understanding. We are developing a new museum platform application designed to use technology as an interface to present academic research to museum visitors in a visually accessible and understandable way. Our focus is on the ornamental tradition of Late Iron Age Scandinavia, expressed as a proper language, with its 'vocabulary', 'grammar', 'syntax' and 'dialects', throughout its development. To achieve that, the original works found through archaeology are studied and 'digested' to extract their canons and underlying principles, which we present to in comprehensive visual breakdowns as well as detailed background information. Rope Robotics is the developer and producer of an automatic BR-8 robot to be used as a unique repair solution for leading edges on turbine blades. Wind turbine blades need to be repaired to maintain their high performance. With manual labor turbine blades can only be repaired 20% of the time during a year due to the fact that it requires technicians to climb up with support from ropes. Using our robot to do the repair and maintenance work in the heights, we are going to expand this repair window and to improve the working environment for the technicians. We have several robot pilots in the pipeline in various places around the world and have received major funding from the EU and Danish Government.
