ColouReef

We are a new social startup named ColouReef and we are going to rethink and innovate the fashion industry. As you probably know, the fast fashion industry has a more negative impact on our environment and society than it does good. Being one of the most polluting ones, the industry emits more CO2 into the atmosphere than international flights and maritime shipping combined. Moreover, it is a water-consuming giant that is responsible for 20% of all industrial water pollution worldwide. Additionally, fast-fashion companies that produce garments in the global south, are profiting by exploiting local labour and nature. Fast fashion is the problem. Ever changing trends, consumerism and the fear of being left out, affects people psychologically, as fashion collections’ frequency jumped from 2 to 4 per year in 2000 to 12, 16 and sometimes 24 different collections per year in 2019. As a result, in 2014 to compare with 2000, on average people bought 60% more clothes and kept them just half as long. Consequently, this behaviour created another major problem of the industry – waste. Around 85% of the textile ends up in landfills or being burned, while barely 15% are recycled. In 2017 – 16.9 million tons of textile was produced, and only 2,6 million tons were recycled. The problem is, that many consumers in the global North are being held as hostages by the fast fashion trends, without many, if any, sustainable alternatives. This is our solution to the problems above: • To create a fashion rental service based on a circular economy, that allows customers to own different garments by paying a monthly subscription. In this way we will be able to reduce the impact of the fast fashion while allowing people an opportunity to change their outfit and style more often. • We will offer clothes ONLY from sustainable companies, which care about our planet and everyone living on it. Meaning that clothes will need to be produced sustainably and ecologically and/or contain recycled fabrics, as well as not to exploit labour within their supply chain. • Damaged and worn out clothes will be returned back to the clothing brand to upcycle or will be recycled and/or upcycled locally by ColouReef. This way we will fight together the problem of enormous waste caused by the industry. • We will change the habits of the consumers, by providing an alternative to own and wear sustainable clothing for a period of time instead of owning cheap and vastly produced fashion garments. At the same time, we will educate our customers about the damages that the textile industry is doing to our environment. • As the name of our company implies, we want to help to protect coral reefs that are on the verge of extinction. Coral reefs are a vital part of the whole underwater ecosystem. Warming ocean and ocean acidification are two of the main reasons why corals are bleaching and dying around the world. Besides our effort to transform the fashion industry into a more sustainable version of it, we will also support selected NGOs that are fighting against coral extinction. We are looking for people thinking in the same way, seeing the problems and wanting to solve them by disrupting the fashion industry. Validicity AB

Background The 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi is unfortunately known for a huge doping scandal, creating a debate on how to increase the secure chain of custody within in the anti-doping industry. Validicity AB was initiated by the Arne Ljungqvist Foundation to actively combat anti-doping in human sports, by developing a new hardware solution combined with a blockchain-based system creating a secure supply chain (https://www.arneljungqvist.com/). A team of experts was brought together with deep knowledge in their respective field in order to solve this challenge and develop the future chain of custody in anti-doping. The first market segment of the company is for doping control in human sports, followed by an equestrian sports segment. A third segment will be solutions addressing work-place testing operations. Expanding the system, Validicity can basically serve any vertical that needs a secure supply chain such as pharma, food, toxic waste and high-end goods. Since the company was founded in the beginning of February 2018, a first functional prototype has been developed, a European patent application has been filed and parts of the team attended the WADA conference initiating talks with potential customers and partners. Business Idea Validicity offers a solution for a complete secure chain of custody combining a digital solution (NFC, Block-chain & Cloud storage technology) with a mechanical device (bottle / bottle tops / packaging) creating a transparent and tamper-proof system.

LifeGuard Health

LifeGuard is a preventive B2B healthcare concept and platform that combines intelligent technology and personal coaching. Purpose driven business. Scalable model for growth. Recurring revenue. The health situation is a huge problem to society and individuals, but also a major challenge to health insurances, pension funds and especially companies - which experience increasing costs for psychical and mental absence. The health insurance market has exploded in Denmark. 2,0 million Danes have a health insurance estimated value of 3+ billions DKK though the massive decline in public health has catalysed a paradigm shift from solely focusing on treatment (via the health insurance) to realising the value of a preventative effort. This is supported by a large study by Deloitte, which concludes that the cost of mental absence ('presenteeism') is up to a factor of 3 compared to the cost of physical absence. Habits are hard to break! The vast majority of market players within health tech scene and preventive care excel in pure tech/app solutions though the notification from an app often comes up short. The personal coach is still the most effective driver in achieving the desired and necessary lifestyle changes in relation to overweight, inactive lifestyle, stress and generally poor health though expensive. LifeGuard’s main USP is our ability to merge leading automation principles know from classic health apps with real human coaching to create an all new product category → “Personal. Scalable. Affordable”. We have democratised personal coaching. Our solution short: ✔️ Health prevention concept with built-in personal coaching ✔️ Holistic solution, covering → Fit, Diet & Mind ✔️ Ability to treat all employees as individuals (their health goals) ✔️ An intuitive healthcare platform for employees as employer ✔️ One solution → data-driven, user-friendly & engaging

Molecular Quantum Solutions (MQS)

Our software tool provides predicted properties of (bio) chemicals based on data-driven algorithms and quantum chemistry, which helps to reduce the number of experiments in R&D. Every (bio)chemical process or product needs physico-chemical properties (e.g. solubility, density) data to simulate unit operations and flowsheets of chemical manufacturing processes. Also, the formulation of products such as more sustainable solvents or more efficient materials need property calculations for designing these products. Scientists and engineers at biotech companies usually fail to develop and simulate new processes and products because: (I) the experimental data for specific molecules are not available, (II) no physical property models have been developed for the desired compounds which give satisfiable predictions, (III) measurements are too time- and material-consuming to perform. MQS has developed a software which provides novel property prediction models based on machine learning and quantum chemistry (Figure 1), in which the input from experiments can be reduced or is negligible. Therefore the number of experiments, material, labour and time are saved which translates to reducing R&D costs in a 407 billion $ industry [1,2,3].
