More than three quarters of these deaths occur in the poorest regions of the world, in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia. Cheap treatment is available through e.g. sunlight, but the diagnostic devices in use today cost around 10,000 dollars, making them practically unavailable in low-resource settings.

Ulike spesialiserte virksomheter leveret komponenter til stolen, som deride ben, massive seter, spiler og buer til ryggene. Sammenstillingen foregikk hos andre virksomheter – og på samme måte som produsenter I dag jobbet de I et nettverk av spesialiserte leverandører for å oppnå best mulig sluttresultat.
