After merging the Tradono and Trendsales platforms in 2019, the year 2020 was about consolidating around our core feature; making it easy and safe to buy and sell 2nd hand items. As a result of those efforts, we are now a profitable business with a clear focus. However, we have only just started and we see huge opportunities ahead. The year 2021 will be all about unfolding those opportunities.
Software is at the core of Trendsales and iOS is our most important platform. You will be driving development of our iOS app in close cooperation with our designer, product manager, CTO and fellow developers on other platforms and the backend. You will be pitching ideas, writing code, challenging backend API’s, managing releases and identifying and fixing any issues our users are experiencing.
Our product team is small, so focus is to keep things simple on all levels. The iOS app uses programmatic Auto Layout and communicates with the backend using standard Rest API-calls. The architecture is nimble, but with a history dating back to the Swift 1.0 days and a migration in the bagage, some parts have gotten more love than others. An important task is to keep the technical debt low and embrace new platform features and opportunities as fast as backwards compatibility allows.
We have a clear high-level roadmap for 2021, but many important details are missing. This leaves great room for you to set your mark on the journey ahead.
When developing new features, we usually select a platform (iOS, Android or web) to spearhead the efforts in an exploratory way in close collaboration with designer, product manager and backend. Once a new feature is fully “baked” the remaining platforms will then catch up.
Multiple platforms can be spearheading new features simultaneously, which gives us great speed and flexibility while avoiding double work and too many chefs.
We don't do daily stand-ups, but gather on Google Hangouts twice weekly for social hangouts. In addition, we discuss and iterate on features and ideas both on calls and in the office.
To give you a sense of what kinds of tasks and features you will be building, here is a list of some of our recent accomplishments:
Transformed the entire platform from a primarily communication platform into a fully transactional platform with integrated shipping and escrow payments
An e-wallet (we are a fintech!)
Changed the branding of Tradono to Trendsales
Migrated over all users from the old Trendsales platform to the new Trendsales
Introduced split payments
Adopted SCA requirements for all payments
Created a fully customizable main feed
We are looking for a candidate who knows the ins and outs of the iOS platform and the surrounding tools and is ready for similar challenges as listed above.
We don't expect you to know all answers up front, but having a strong understanding of software development, troubleshooting and teamwork will take you far.
You pay attention to the Apple ecosystem and Swift project.
We expect you to help set goals and execute them and we will offer our strongest support in helping you achieve those goals.
You might have a computer science background or similar, or you might not. What is most important to us, is your abilities and your commitment.
You can expect a thoughtful onboarding, where you will be gradually introduced to new areas of the tech stack and features. However, be ready to commit code early and see it go live to hundreds of thousands of users.
We pay competitive salaries and offer the usual benefits. We have a great office in the center of Copenhagen located close to Vesterport Station and expect you to work from the office 1-2 days per week (not during the pandemic of course). The remaining days you decide if remote work or office work is the better match for you.
