Matter is a Danish fintech scale up with an office located in the heart of Copenhagen and an international culture. Our mission is to make capital work for planet and people, and our software and data solutions allow our clients in the financial industry to understand and report on the sustainability of their investments in an intuitive and transparent way.

We are looking to expand our team with an experienced head of commercial development who can strengthen our commercial model, foster new client relationships and improve existing ones. Our clients range from global asset managers and banks to specialized platforms and investors.

We imagine you have experience within sustainable finance, and that you have a proven ability to develop and strengthen meaningful relations with clients in the financial industry, and drive sales processes to the end. In addition, you may have concrete experience with commercial roll-out of software or data solutions, as well as developing new practices in fast growing and fast learning companies. Your role in Matter

You will be reporting directly to the CEO, while working collaboratively with management, marketing, sustainability analysis and product teams. Our products are software solutions that either require introduction to users (e.g. an ESG team), or integrations with engineering teams. As such, you will have overall responsibility for the development of commercial model(s), the distribution of our offer, as well as the success of our clients in using our services. We are a young and growing organization, so you will also be expected to take part in developing and strengthening our team and culture.

Your profile

We imagine that you have an academic background in social science, law, business or economics, and that your knowledge of the financial industry has given you an understanding of how and why financial sector clients integrate sustainability into their decision-making processes. Your experience within sales and business development has ideally prepared you to take responsibility for turning a lead into a trusted client relationship. 

The field of sustainable finance is developing quickly, and constantly new nuances and complexities are added to reporting frameworks and regulation. It is key that your educational background, professional experience and curiosity equips you to understand the dynamics and intersection of financial markets and sustainability frameworks. This allows you to help clients better understand how to prioritize sustainability using our tools. As a curious visionary, you may also be interested in driving thought leadership and help develop perspectives on how the financial industry can invest more in line with the needs of the global community.

About Matter

Matter was started in 2017 with an ambition to launch a sustainable pension plan. We launched the first sustainable pension scheme in Denmark in 2018, and have evolved into a fintech specialized in analyzing and reporting on sustainable investments for a range of international clients. 

Our international team counts people from Scotland, Iran, France, South Africa, Faroe Islands, Russia, Austria, and Denmark.
