Walk With Path (WWP) is an award winning startup based in Copenhagen with a mission to improve mobility and reduce the risk of falls for elderly and people with chronic disease. With one medical device on the market in Europe and another in research and development we are a fast-moving company. We are looking for a hardware and production engineer with skills and interests in user experience design to join the team.
Due to the nature of being in a startup, we are looking for a highly motivated intern with broad skills and interests, who are able to juggle several tasks simultaneously. The successful candidate will work to bring a new innovative product to market. The successful candidate will become a key member of the team, and will be expected to be able to work independently to a high standard.
The main task will be to assist with the design and development for production of the hardware components of our second product: Path Feel. Path Feel is a Bluetooth Low Energy connected insole that provides vibrational feedback to the soles of people at risk of falls, such as those with peripheral neuropathy, who are unable to feel the ground properly due to a sensory deficit, or those with general balance issues. By amplifying the sense of touch of the feet to the ground, users are able to identify accurately when their feet touch the ground, thereby reducing the sense of imbalance as well as incidence of falls.
Key duties of the internship include:
Design and engineering of new innovative products
Making: silicone moulds, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, possibly small amount of electronics
CAD design and FEA
Experience with Design For Manufacturing (DFM)
Molds and injection molding
Quality Control design and implementation in production
Production logistics and supply chain
User research and testing of products or concepts
Possible logistical management leading up to patient testing
Key skills desired:
Fluent English, both spoken and written (essential)
Strong communication and organisational skills and attention to detail (essential)
Design and engineering (essential)
CAD - especially SolidWorks and Fusion360 (essential)
Design For Manufacturing and production requirements (essential)
Quality Control design and implementation is a plus
Ability to work independently, follow guidelines and meet deadlines is a plus
Experience working within a Quality Management System is a plus
Experience with Medical Devices is a plus
Experience with CE marking and FDA is a plus
