Note: Only relevant to applicants already based in Denmark. The internship is unpaid and therefore intended for students who wish to get practical experience in an exciting startup world.
Are you mad about data analysis and algorithms? And would you like to take part in the ongoing development of an innovative and user-centered news platform? Then apply for an internship at Listen to News. We are a Danish tech startup that collects audio content from the biggest Danish news media, and arranges it to fit the individual news user's needs. We are looking for someone who knows a thing or two about recommendations algorithms so if that's you, don't hesitate to apply.
What you'll be doing:
Explore and analyze our data and perhaps come up with new ideas for structuring it.
Develop machine learning algorithms based on our data.
Work in close collaboration with our CTO and UX researches who will assist you, challenge you and give you constructive feedback.
Try out other things that you'd like to gain experience with. Maybe you're born with a natural talent for paid social media management. Or perhaps you want to explore the possibilities in SEO. You name it. We would love to share our knowledge with you as well as learn from you.
We're looking for someone who:
Would love to work ambitiously with data, recommendation algorithms, speech-to-text algorithms, and natural language processing.
Has coding experience in Python. (It's a plus if you also know Ruby on Rails, but we don't expect you to).
Likes to come up with new ideas, try them out, do their best, and learn from their mistakes (we all make them).
Thinks it sounds interesting to work at the intersection of technology and humans, and to take part in the development of an innovative and user-centered news platform.
The practical stuff:
Period: We imagine that you're with us for about 3-6 months and that you work full time (37 hours per week). But if your programme requires something else, we'll figure it out together.
Start: We're of course eager to get to know you so the sooner you can start the better.
Place: You'll work from our office in the very middle of Copenhagen, and you are also allowed to work from home once in a while when that fits your work tasks best.
Salary: The internship is unpaid but we offer free lunch, and every Friday we have breakfast together at the office.
Our work culture:
As our intern, you'll be part of a highly ambitious and informal team that moves fast and builds things. We're a rather small team of 7-8 tech and media professionals who all strive to build the world's best news platform. We have low levels of hierarchy but high expectations of each other, so you - like the rest of us - will enjoy a lot of responsibility. We do not believe in perfectionism and we'd rather try something out, do our best, evaluate, learn from our experiences, and in that way constantly become wiser and better at what we do.
Does it sound like your kind of job?
Then send us an email with a short description of who you are and what you do in your everyday life, as well as your motivation for applying for this internship. If you have an updated CV, you're welcome to attach it to the email, but otherwise you can also just write in bullet points what education and relevant experience you have (for example from jobs and courses). If you have any relevant examples of past work, do attach it - we'd love to see what you are good at. Also, remember to let us know in which period of time you'd be able to intern.
We're looking forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Team Listen to News
