In May 2019, we merged Tradono & Trendsales into one marketplace. Continuing on the modern Tradono stack but under the Trendsales name. We are looking for a backend developer to join our Product team and help us improve on this platform even further.

With over 1 million users and +250.000 new listings every month and counting, Trendsales is Denmark’s biggest digital secondhand fashion marketplace. As a two-sided marketplace, our mission is to match sellers and buyers successfully. We do that by constantly improving and building new features that help buyers & sellers, as well as creating a community of dedicated users.

In the team you’ll work side-by-side with our two current backend developers. The team works fast, always looking for ways to build as lean and pragmatic as possible, and we are not afraid of taking on new challenges. Our two current backend developers have been part of the founding journey so they set the bar very high and we need you to come on board to further challenge us. 

The Trendsales stack consists of three user facing frontends, an Android app in Java, an iOS app in Swift and a website in React. All these share a Java REST API, which you will be a part of expanding and maintaining. We’ve proven our MVPs in many parts of the stack so a key task looking ahead is to build for scale and resilience. The backend stack is hosted on AWS with key components being EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Aurora (MySQL) and ElasticSearch. Source versioning and continuous integration is handled using git and CircleCI.

Responsibilities

• Build: Together with the product team, spec and develop new features
• Deploy: Ensure deployment of backend features built by you works as expected
• Maintain: Keep the platform stable by fixing bugs and optimizing performance

Requirements

• Experienced Java developer
• Strong knowledge of relational databases
• Prior experience with AWS is a large plus
• Strong competencies in software design
• A demonstrated ability to create results as a team player
• A high learning ability and natural curiosity

The Trendsales team of about 45 full- and part-timers reside in a top floor office on Gammel Mønt in central Copenhagen.
