We are currently looking for a Data Engineer to get a firm grip of all the data we have and make it available for analysis, general data science and reporting. 

What you’ll be doing

As our product and data collection capabilities are continuously improving, we know we have the right data, but we need more hands to get data in the right place and in the right format for it to be useful. Some data needs are near-real-time while others are completely offline - we expect you to be able to choose the right tool for the job.

You will enable analysis by bringing data from various data sources into a DW. These sources include various relational and document databases as well as APIs and flat files - just to name a few. You will also make analysis easier by pre-processing, data wrangling and sometimes feature engineering. You will own the analytics infrastructure from implementation to maintenance, keeping things running smoothly.

Responsibilities/requirements:

• Previous experience of data engineering is a must
• Hands-on cloud technology skills (We’re on AWS)
• Data Modeling/Warehousing
• Database optimisation
• Enable analysis by making data accessible through ETL (We use AWS Glue/pyspark)
• Scripting/programming experience (e.g. Python)
• Production-ready DevOps (needed for customer-facing elements)

Nice to have, or willing to learn:

• Feature engineering/data enrichment
• JavaScript is useful, as we collect a lot of data through our UI layer
• Knowledge of the finance industry is considered a plus
