Alva was founded to meet the growing global energy demand with renewable technologies. We develop electric generators for production of clean energy and electric motors to convert this energy to motion. Our aim is to accelerate the transition to green energy by making affordable customized electrical machines available to everyone.

We are currently engaged in several international projects within unmanned aerial vehicles, actuators and small wind turbines, and are now taking the step from R&D to commercialization. We are therefore expanding our team to include several new positions, including a Product Manager who will be the main responsible for defining and bringing our products out to global markets.


The position

We are looking for a customer oriented and highly motivated person to take a leading role as Product Manager in Alva.

As Product Manager, you will analyze various markets, applications and competitive conditions, lay out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique customer value, work closely with sales, marketing, technical application support, engineering and R&D, and be a central hub within the company for critical information about products, markets, customers and prospects.

The Product Manager is responsible for defining and bringing to market a family of products within all the applications served by Alva. By understanding the market and customer requirements, you will provide the deep product expertise needed to make strategic product decisions, communicate this strategy to all relevant participants and stakeholders, and translate these requirements into specifications for the engineering team. The Product Manager will define the company product portfolio and, as the company grows, be central in building the Sales and Marketing division and position Alva as the go-to company for high-performance electric motor solutions.



Responsibilities 

Short term:

  • Evaluate market segments, customer needs, and their potential.
  • Identify market requirements and build the company product portfolio by defining unique product solutions in a variety of markets and work close with R&D and engineering team in the development of new products.
  • Develop market intelligence and support sales projections
  • Be the “voice of the customer” in the organization for all product related matters.
  • Support marketing activities and attend exhibitions.
  • Continuously gather and analyze data and business intelligence from external and internal sources and use this to improve and define products.
  • Build the Sales and Marketing Division in Alva.
  • Develop and execute long-term sales and marketing strategies.
  • Prepare training material for sales teams, including presentations and webinars targeting various customer applications/market segments and technical aspects of the products, and build necessary infrastructure to support global expansion.

Requirements

  • Strong technical competence - You are required to learn whatever is needed about electric motors, drivers, gears, encoders and similar, to build trustworthy communication with customers.
  • Natural or latent leader skills - Ability to lead and develop people and teams as a safe, empathetic and motivating leader.
  • Social skills - You enjoy expanding your network and build relations.


Preferred requirements, but not necessary:

  • Experience with electric motor technology, markets and applications.
  • Experience with B2B sales and marketing.
  • Relevant higher education (B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering, business or economy).
  • Existing network in industry.
  • Speaks and writes fluent Norwegian.
