Software Development Intern

Salary Competitive

If you’re looking for a challenge where you can combine a creative Computer-Science-mindset with a fast-paced fintech start-up culture, look no more. We’d love to speak with you! 🚀

Penstable is a Danish fintech start-up founded in 2017. We are united by the idea that pension investments can and should make a positive difference to the world around us.

We are currently busy preparing the launch of a sustainable pension product in collaboration with our partner, Skandia, in Denmark. Part of our offering is a groundbreaking digital platform that will help customers see the environmental impact of their investments.

Currently, we are a team of 7 full time employees and 2 interns, and hopefully you will join us in September 👋

What kind of tasks are we looking at?

Today we are three developers who primarily write in Vue.js and Pythons Django and implement solution in the AWS ecosystem. We are looking for an intern to assist in developing and maintaining a consumer-facing dashboard by writing some JavaScript and doing some backend-work. We have a broad set of competences and many tasks ahead of us, so we are also able to give you more exotic tasks that are more research-oriented and assist you in your work. Perhaps you want to do some data analysis or machine learning?

Where do I fit in, and what do you expect of me?

Because you are an intern, we take your personal and professional development very seriously. We want you to help us in maintaining and developing our core offerings, but we also invite you to take on exotic projects that are more research-oriented and offer you to manage some of our projects. This means that you will fit in the best if you are hard working and curious by nature, eager to become a better developer and colleague with some cool stories to tell.

We imagine that…

You’re a creative problem solver and enjoy discussing ideas that lie at the intersection between multiple disciplines that entail infrastructure, software development and data modelling.

You are curious by nature. You’re the type who explores the possibility for writing your own mini-interpreter to handle a tricky task, and typically interested in trying out new and exciting technologies, even though you don’t have a specific task in mind.

You understand the logic behind front- and backend development, and although you clearly have your strengths in one area, you don’t mind discussing problems or writing code in other areas.

You’re excited about solutions that are well-thought out and would rather write one piece of great code rather than ten pieces of okay-ish code.

You are most likely a software engineer or computer science major, as this provides you with a good understanding of the underlying principles within programming. However, we welcome applicants from a variety of different educational backgrounds.

You have some experience already and can use your experience and your knowledge to do some of your research and testing on your own.

Sounds exciting – show me your stack!

Vue.js and VueX for the frontend-app with OAuth authentication flows.

Python for analyses and backends in Django.

PostgreSQL databases

Microservices, currently deployed as serverless applications with AWS Lambda.

Neo4J and Elasticsearch for knowledge graphs with fuzzy searches.

How do I get in touch with you?

Apply below through the Hub and we will contact you. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact our CTO, Alexander C. Harrington at +45 31 49 80 71 or ah@penstable.dk. Our office is on Nørrebrogade 47, and you are also more than welcome to drop by if you want to see where and how we work.

Last applications will be accepted on August 17th, 2018 | Start date: As soon as possible

The internship is full time and paid – but don’t expect 💰💰💰, we’re quite early stage 😊
