Who are we?
Since 2010, Pubfront has been developing a platform for publishing, selling and reading/listening to ebooks, audiobooks and comics. We pride ourselves on our technology powering some of the best digital-book shops in the Nordics. Currently licensed to clients in Denmark (Riidr), Sweden (Bokon) and Norway (EBOK.NO), we're planning on expanding the platform to more countries and types of content.
Who are you?
You live and breathe Android, recite the User Interface Guidelines in your sleep and your left eye starts twitching when somebody fails to comply with best practices. You are committed to building reliable and usable apps, and can showcase multiple such apps that you’ve worked on in the past. As part of a team of developers, you are adept at cooperating with others as well as working independently.
What will you be doing?
Pubfront maintains several Android apps that are branded variations of the same codebase. You will be taking over development of these and take responsibility for keeping them up-to-date, implementing new features and releasing new versions. In addition, you will give chat-based support to our clients in cases where customer support cases are too technical for them to handle. If we are impressed with your work, you may be given overall responsibility for the apps as our Mobile App Lead.
Where are we?
You'll be working alongside our small team of developers and salespeople in central Copenhagen, where we reside in spacious offices of our own near Kongens Nytorv. Lunch will be provided daily, as per Danish tradition.
What are the requirements?
At Pubfront, we believe that general development chops and a good attitude and mindset weigh heavier than specific expertise or university degrees. That said, it's obviously a plus if you're familiar with the technology we use:
Java, Android SDK Required
Android Studio Our preferred IDE; ideally, you’re familiar with it
Android MediaPlayer Audiobooks are a major focus of our apps, meaning the UX has to be top-notch
JNI Used to wrap our ebook-rendering-library, so previous experience is a bonus
Other than that, strong communication skills in spoken and written English are a definite requirement. Should you be interested in advancing to the Mobile App Lead position, you should also be knowledgeable about iOS development. Other relevant skills are welcomed.
