Novaheim is a social design startup creating high-quality home accessories in close collaboration with women at Danish asylum centers. Novaheim addresses the societal issue that female refugees are poorly represented on the Danish labor market. Our approach is proactive and is carried forward by means of Danish design. Through creative work, we aim at empowering women in the asylum phase to bring them closer to the labor market while at the same time bringing sustainable products to life.
Are you a skilled textile designer and passionate about social causes? - then you are the person we are looking for!
Our team
We are a team of two ambitious young women with a vision to turn our passion for Scandinavian design and social causes into a meaningful and responsible business that takes people, environment, and society into consideration.
We are both masters’ students at Copenhagen Business School, and our key competencies lie within business administration – in particular marketing, branding and communication. We are currently looking for the third and last person to complete our founding team in terms of skills and knowledge. We are consequently looking for a textile designer who can take the lead in developing Novaheim’s design DNA.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a dedicated designer to be in charge of Novaheim’s creative processes. This entails product development, trend spotting, finding suppliers etc. It also entails that you assist in planning, executing and evaluating Novaheim’s creative workshops. You will consequently be working ‘in the field’ from time to time, meaning that you will help teach and inspire the women we work with at the asylum centers.
Starting a business from scratch is hard work, and requires all team members to be fully invested. Accordingly, it is important to us that you are ready to take on great responsibility and perceive yourself as being on equal terms with the rest of the team. Honesty, integrity and hard work are values we prioritize.
As a person, you are outgoing, well-organized and you contribute to a pleasant working atmosphere with your positive spirit. Moreover, you are dedicated and think out of the box in order for you to help contribute to the growth of Novaheim.
We believe that great collaborations stem from great chemistry between people. Your persona and your connection with the rest of the team is therefore of greater importance to us than previous work experience.
What we can offer
As the third member of Novaheim, we can offer you great responsibility and influence as well as a dynamic, creative, and entrepreneurial working atmosphere. In close collaboration with the rest of the team, you will get the unique chance of taking great part in developing a new and innovative design brand that seeks to make a difference. Due to the startup phase, the position is unpaid for now. However, if we are the right match in terms of skills and personal qualities, there is opportunity to negotiate equity shares. Consequently, you will become the third member of the founding team behind Novaheim.
The position is flexible in terms of format and hours. You will primarily work from our office space at Frederiksberg (Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship) where we are surrounded by other innovative startups. From time to time, you will also be working at the asylum centers when assisting in the execution of our creative workshops.
Your main tasks
As Novaheim’s textile designer, your key tasks will be:
- Product development including trend spotting, design, exploring textiles, techniques, suppliers etc.
- Assist in planning and execution of creative workshops
In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also engage in other tasks as the third member of the team. This includes general strategy development and ad hoc assignments.
Requirements
As textile designer, we require that you have a relevant educational background. You are passionate about interior design and ready to bring your creative ideas to the table in order to develop the aesthetic expression of Novaheim’s products.
You are an open-minded person who can work independently as well as in a team. Due to our work at the asylum centers, it is furthermore important that you possess great empathy and speak Danish and English as a minimum.
