Cloud Insurance, our lean and mean Software-as-a-Service for insurance companies, agents and brokers, is already in use in 21 countries across five continents. We are profitable and scalable, and now looking to build the organization to take us further!
As our first dedicated frontend developer, you will play an incredibly important role, with opportunities to influence everything from choice of technology to how stuff should look. Insurance is complex, but we take pride in making it seem simple. We are now beefing up our efforts to create truly great user experiences, with more stuff happening on the client side. You have an eye for good design, master HTML and LESS/SASS, as well as using modern JavaScript to communicate with the Cloud Insurance REST API.
Feel free to write your application in Norwegian or English. We use Lever to handle applications. To register your job application, please fill in the form at https://jobs.lever.co/cloudinsurance
You'll:
- Be the leading capacity in frontend development, working close with our CTO, backend dev and Project Manager
- Choose and configure the frontend frameworks and tooling we should rely on (currently we think vue.js + ES6 + Babel + Webpack is awesome)
- Work together with our team in Oslo and our clients across Scandinavia, the UK and USA on planning future features.
- Focus both on creating stuff that faces the end-user ("My Account") and that faces insurance company employees ("Backoffice")
- Develop and deploy product-wide features daily and iterate on improvements.
Benefits:
- As a core member of a small startup, you get to work closely and have lots of fun with the rest of the team.
- A lot of autonomy with regards to how, when and where you work.
- We have great coffee from Solberg&Hansen and an awesome lunch at the office. Every day.
- Competitive salary (we are funded and we are profitable).
- Equity in the company (we want to share the success with those who contribute to it).
Must-Haves:
- Experience writing client-side JavaScript
- Expertise in building complex layouts with HTML and CSS (LESS/SASS)
- The ability to understand a complex challenge, and turn it into great user experiences that makes sense.
- Experience building and debugging complex systems in a team environment.
- Experience with modern browser technologies.
- Strong UX and design sensibilities, and a desire to sweat the small stuff.
- You are someone that others enjoy working with due to your technical competence and positive attitude.
Extra Credit:
- Experience with ES6 and vue.js, React, Angular or other frameworks
- Experience with WebSockets and Local Storage
- Experience investigating and improving JavaScript performance
- Experience in small startup environments
- Experience designing web sites or applications
- Experience with Bootsrap or other CSS libraries
- Experience or familiarity with backend development (we are a small team and it does not make sense to isolate frontend and backend teams completely)
This position is based in Oslo, Norway. We have modern offices on the 8th floor at Havnelageret, close to the Opera and Oslo Stock Exchange.
