PESITHO ApS

PESITHO Pesitho is a Danish based enterprise, committed to providing affordable and clean energy solutions for cooking to marginalized and vulnerable people around the world. We have developed the ECOCA solar powered electric cook stove, to meet the daily cooking and energy needs to families living in off grid areas. Pesitho has established a locally run co-operative outside of the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement in Northern Uganda, from where stoves are assembled, distributed, and serviced by refugee residents and members of the host community. The company was founded in 2018 and has a combined experience of more than 30 years in the renewable energy industry. The Problem we are solving Currently, 4 billion people around the world lack access to clean, efficient, and affordable access to energy for cooking. Polluting fuels and technologies for cooking have a detrimental impact of health, nutrition, gender, and the environment, hindering the process of a sustainable development, in many cases, in already fragile settings. The lack of progress in clean cooking, reportedly costs the world more than $2.4 trillion each year, driven by adverse impacts on health, climate, and gender equality. Left unaddressed, communities will continue face multiple adverse consequences, that are further amplified by poverty, climate change and future global pandemics. To solve this problem Providing access to an affordable and sustainable technology for cooking with the ECOCA solar powered electric cook seeks to address energy security not just for cooking but also to reduce environmental issues like deforestation, pollution, also gender inequality and poverty. Research and design for our stove was conducted with residents of the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement in Northern Uganda, where pilot testing permitted additional adjustments, allowing for a stove specifically designed to meet the cooking needs of vulnerable groups of people living in off grid areas. The ECOCA comes with a solar panel, insulated 6l cooking pot, 1 LED rechargeable household lamp, 1 LED rechargeable torch and USB ports for charging small items. Studies conducted with end users by organizations such as Caritas and World Food Program, have shown improvements to overall health and wellbeing, reducing exposure to harmful pollutants from smoke and usage of firewood, improvements in taste of food, income generation from USB port charging station and hours saved from collecting firewood being reinvested in education and skills training. The Spark Pesitho was founded on the belief that all should be able to have access to modern clean energy for cooking. Seeing a map over Africa showed that a large portion of the continent is without access to modern energy. This sparked a willingness to learn why. Understanding the why lead to the understanding of scale of lacking modern energy in that region of the world. While other continents where mowing a positive direction in relation to rural electrification sub Sarah Africa is still mowing in the wrong direction with the number of people living without access to electricity growing. This knowledge inspired the team to pursue the development of the ECOCA, off grid E-cooker

Reel

Reel is a climate impact start-up aiming to democratize the energy market and accelerate the development of renewable energy on a global level. We see this as a pivotal step towards a zero-carbon economy and avoiding irreversible climate change and damage to life on earth. Currently, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) - an emerging type of renewable energy contract linked to the development of new renewable energy assets - are only available for the largest 1% of companies. Reel democratizes the renewable energy market by making it possible for groups of SMEs to act as "one synthetic large company" and enter into a PPA. This is done with an aggregational software model, a novel risk management system and a standardized contractual framework. We aim to become a central marketplace for renewable energy procurement – transparently and available for all. It will massively benefit the companies entering the market (SMEs), the renewable energy developers and the green transition that can now be accelerated on market terms.

Winnowave SL

Winnowave is developing wind concentrators - a vertical wall of shipping containers - to install in front of wind turbines to increase the wind speed experienced by the wind turbine and thereby inproving the energy production from the wind turbine. Our first minimum viable product is built from used or scrapped shipping containers installed just in front of a wind turbine on an uni-wind-directional site. Many wind turbines are currently installed on uni-wind-directional sites in for example Spain, Brazil, France or Mexico. CFD calculations and wind measurements have shown an increase in power production from the wind turbine at 30% on a flat site and significantly more when the wind turbine is situated on the top of a hill. When using scrapped containers, the businesscase is extremely good. It is a totally new technology and we have filed 8 patent applications. For a Vestas V-90 wind turbine we designed a container wall from 50 HQ containers with wire supports and earth anchors. It is designed according to the Euro code. Our customers are wind turbine operators and our first customer will most likely be Iberdrola, Enel, Actiona or EDF. They all showed much interest in our product. One founder, Peter Grabau, has optimized wind turbine blades for 30 years and looked for new ways to improve energy production. The other founder, Manuel Alcocer, has sold Vestas wind turbines in Brazil for 4 years and he found all sites to be uni-wind-directional why got the idea.

FieldWorks ApS

We aim to create the most user friendly and efficient digital platforms for manual industries. By focusing on great user experience, automation and integration with existing technology, we create platforms that optimize workflows while automatically enhancing transparency and compliance. We begin by transforming the agricultural industry with a SaaS solution “KARL” (www.karl.farm) that optimises task planning and gives resource insights for farmers and agricultural sub-contractors. There is rapid technological development in the agricultural industry with the increasing use of self-driving machines, drones and IoT. Simultaneously, many farmers and subcontractors still use physical 'worksheets' to plan and delegate tasks and invoice customers. This makes planning hard, as many tasks are weather dependent and change as frequently as the Danish summer sky. With our platform, the worksheets are digitalized and data automatically gets analyzed in the background, giving farmers insights on the profitability of machines and tasks. In time, we extend the platform with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities to optimise and automate ressource coordination. We currently have an alpha version of the web and iOS-app ready, and we are currently testing it at a single pilot customer. We are always welcoming bright minds, so do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to learn more or join our journey!

From click to your house in just 3 weeks! 🏆 We help both the master handyman Johnny-Good-With-A-Hammer and Mr. and Mrs. Denmark, who just doesn’t want to lift a finger. Both need a trustful and personal online experience and it is our job to give them that, as we continue to push the boundaries for quality, price and speed.

Children of Ash

Welcome to Children of Ash, an ongoing research project devoted to Viking ornamental art and its understanding. We are developing a new museum platform application designed to use technology as an interface to present academic research to museum visitors in a visually accessible and understandable way. Our focus is on the ornamental tradition of Late Iron Age Scandinavia, expressed as a proper language, with its 'vocabulary', 'grammar', 'syntax' and 'dialects', throughout its development. To achieve that, the original works found through archaeology are studied and 'digested' to extract their canons and underlying principles, which we present to in comprehensive visual breakdowns as well as detailed background information. A true glimpse into the Viking mind.

SoftBite

NOVEL TECHNOLOGY to enhance DIETARY SOLUTIONS for people with DYSPHAGIA. PROBLEM: There are an estimated 45 million people across Europe and 16 million across the USA who struggle to chew and swallow with normal function (dysphagia). Eating and drinking to obtain adequate energy, nutrition and hydration is a daily challenge. Food items are broken down (blending and diluting) and then thickened to alter the consistency for safe ingestion to avoid/minimise choking, drooling, coughing, asphyxiation pneumonia and even mortality. Current methods results in vegetables and proteins (meat/fish) comprising a 'meal' with low taste and visual appeal (more like baby food) and diluted nutritional values with issues around medicine bioavailability, consistency instability and dehydration. Dysphagia is said to affect up to 27% elderly people living in the community, up to 70% of those living in care homes and around 30% across the hospital setting - yet there are limited opportunities to obtain/prepare suitable, appealing food/drink options and so for many, simply not eating is the next best alternative. SoftBite is developing a technology that should improve the sensory, digestibility, nutritional and stability quality of soft textured food for people with dysphagia and interrelated conditions such as sarcopenia, frailty and malnutrition in recognition that food and nutrition are key pillars to health, wellness and recovery. A collaborative project across healthcare, academia, food science and industry, we have the potential to develop solutions beneficial for both the European and US markets where research and development transformed into relevant and needs-filled commercial products, is lacking . Our aim is to advance targeted, consumer-centric development using innovative technologies, building on current and new research to produce SoftBite solutions that aid prevention, independence and quality of life for those who are otherwise food insecure. Nutritious food is a fundamental need. Without it, we experience far reaching economic, psychological and physiological consequences such as malnutrition in all its forms (undernutrition, micronutrient deficiency and overweight and obesity). Food systems are a key driver of malnutrition - it is well recognised that these systems need to be transformed to address etiological factors accelerating the demand for more specific food and nutrition to maintain, prevent, treat and positively influence quality of life for so many people with varying food and nutrition needs.
