This role...
…is game changing. This growth-focused hands-on role will be focused on driving business growth through marketing covering key areas such as ticketing, viewership and new users for our digital platform.
We’re at the beginning of its journey and you’ll be one of the driving forces in its growth. We’re looking for a hungry marketer that’s an expert in user acquisition and digital media planning and buying, interest and past knowledge of SEO, and ticketing prices/setups also a massive bonus. Importantly, you’ll work well with CRM and product colleagues to drive product growth, be able to take a campaign brief, create and deliver a strategy and be hands on when delivering, you’ll be running campaigns, optimising and briefing creatives.
You’ll have a deep understanding of media buying and have tangible experience of growing digital platforms and audiences. You’ll want to learn new skills as this role will cover partnerships, SEO (for example) and be able embrace new audiences and be able to pivot from online to real world kpis easily.
This role will also run marketing across multiple markets, so experience in understanding personas and launching campaigns in multiple markets is a plus. You’ll be engaged in the creative process creating killer briefs and always want to be pushing the boundary of what’s possible. We’re looking for someone with a hacking mindset, a person who will approach a situation and get the most out of the budget given.
You’ll be measured by core growth KPIs associated with the role and by how you’re collaborating and driving forward the rest of the business with your audience knowledge. We need a numbers driven, detail focused person who is open and sharing with the data and knowledge they have.
This person will flourish from day one if they have a love of the sector and knowledge of esports audiences, although it’s not a requisite. What’s important is that you are an expert in digital buying and planning, can manage campaigns and always on budgets simultaneously. user acquisition and are an inspirational leader in your area of expertise with direct reports and colleagues. Collaboration is at the heart of our business, so we need someone open to lead and learn.
You must be able to work on delivering campaigns yourself whilst equally project managing, steering and inspiring local market partners. You’ll naturally fit into a growing marketing unit looking to keep making euphoric moments on a global stage with multiple threads happening at once.
Key responsibilities
The Senior Marketing Manager, a full time role (approx 40 hour working week), is responsible for key metrics and deliveries across 4 key areas:
Ticket pricing and sales for our events across BLAST Premier and other IP
This will be mainly digital advertising in the event market but could also include outdoor and tv advertising where appropriate.
Work on local market partnerships (e.g. universities, federations) to drive ticketing kpis
Work with local market partners to ensure that the ticket offer is right for our fans
Drive viewership of both our event and digital content
Digital advertising growing our audience for broadcasts and social content
Build our brand online destinations being specifically responsible for monthly active viewers and user acquisition
Define the viewer acquisition strategy and hands on deliver it against KPIs
Work closely with the Head of CRM and Head of Digital Product to deliver overall kpis and product development
Manage a SEO executive to deliver on the traffic targets and develop person to support in paid acquisition
Brand and new product
Lead our brand campaigns, briefing into our creative team and delivering maximum impact
Support the launch of new IP to introduce and grow audience adoption
Merchandise
Work against brief from the merchandising team to drive visits and sales of merchandise in the shop via paid and organic digital activation
Effectiveness
Model the use of advertising spend against impact
Use of data and knowledge gained about audiences and share into the business
Work with creative teams to evolve BLAST visual language via the use of data and advertising behaviour
In order to deliver these numbers, the role will cover but not limited to:
Media planning and buying
Full planning, mainly digital, of advertising spend
This role will be hands on delivering, running and optimising campaigns across all self-serve platforms
SEO
Working with a direct report to deliver fully and continually optimised digital destinations
Partnerships
You’ll be a hacker, looking at all different ways to hit your targets. You’ll look for the best activation and
Strategy and project management
Set the strategies and run the marketing activation calendar
Use third parties where appropriate and our internal creative and content teams
Project manage all campaigns from start to finish including departmental reporting
Data and audience: Knowing the audience, creating and owning our data and its use
Work with our platform teams to continually define and evolve our audience personas
Feed our audience knowledge into other areas of the business
Work with the Head of CRM to select a tech stack to help us curate user data safely within GDPR regulations and use across the business
Expanding the use of data in the business via creating reports about users to drive new business and commercial activity
Key skills and history
At least 8 years direct media buying and planning experience specifically across Facebook, Google and other social platforms. Experience in programmatic or other digital buying a bonus.
Tangible examples of user acquisition strategies and delivery for digital platforms
SEO knowledge is a bonus.
Experience in growing audiences on content platforms
Previous experience in live event marketing and setting up ticketing prices and processes is a bonus but not a necessity.
A passion for data and an ability to build and interpret data sets to the rest of the business
Superb negotiating and ‘sales’ skills in building 3rd party relationships
Top communicator and able to brief well
Strategic thinker and fantastic project manager – this job is for both sides of the brain
Experience working in entertainment (TV, Sports or Events) or a directly related sector.
Knowledge of or experience working in esports not essential but preferred.
Collaborates effectively with colleagues across the business, setting aside self-interest to achieve the best outcome.
