Swappie is changing the market in consumer electronics, starting with a marketplace for buying and selling refurbished smartphones. Since launching in Finland in 2016, we have grown exponentially and expanded to 8 new countries, increased our headcount to over 400 and raised funding from some of the most prestigious investors in the Nordics. 

Our talented development teams consist at the moment of 20+ developers and we are looking to double the amount in order to support our fast growth!

As a Software Engineer at Swappie, you’ll work on internal projects with our Production teams, as well as external customers who make purchases on swappie.com. Some potential projects you’ll tackle include tackling new payment and logistics providers to optimise order economics, rebuilding and A/B testing our sales journey with the customer at the centre, and diving deep into data engineering with our factory operations optimisation. The specific team and work depend on your skills and interests. You will personally make an impact on the success of our company and help us realise our mission of bringing refurbished mobile phones to the masses. 

Ideally you understand the entire web programming stack and lifecycle from design to operating in production at some level, but your core skills and interests may also be focused more either on the frontend or backend.  

We work with Typescript, Node.js, React, Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes and Google Cloud, but we’re also open if you bring something new to the table or are eager to learn!

This position is located in Helsinki, Finland.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

• Building robust ecommerce solutions that scale, from inbound device shipments to credit card processing integrations

• Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, from our in-house refurbishment team to third-party payment providers, for example

• Changing the status quo for inventory management and other warehouse-related management projects, including introducing automation and efficiency improvements that positively impact the business and our teams

• Building a strong engineering culture and bringing scalable ways of working

WHO YOU ARE

• You have a track record in software engineering 

• You are comfortable working within a quickly growing team, and are excited about knowledge sharing and collaboration with non-technical stakeholders

• You have experience with fast-moving projects and initiatives, remaining flexible while also pushing features and updates to deployment with ease

• You love building user-friendly projects informed by business intelligence

• You’re excited about testing, and would love to play a key role in driving improvements to our testing and deployment infrastructure

• Previous experience from ecommerce companies is a definite plus!
