We are looking for a developer to join our team as an aspiring Chief Technical Officer. As Junction's CTO, you'll get to shape Junction's overall technology strategy while leading our hackathon platform development. This job is well suited for people who have attended hackathons in the past and are interested in the startup/tech scene. Prior experience in full stack development is required, as you will be also developing the platform during the year.

About the role

This role is full-time and you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining the Junction Hackathon Platform (Junction App), as well as figuring out other tech related needs of the company. As part of the full-time team, you’ll work closely with all other sections of the company.

Prior experience in full stack development is required, as you will be also developing the platform during the year. The current stack is generic MERN (Mongo, Express, React, Node) stack. Being familiar with all of the technologies isn’t necessary, and there is plenty of room to learn during the year..

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining the Junction App (app.hackjunction.com).

• Recruiting and leading a volunteer-based tech team.

• Being part of Junction full-time team and planning the activities for 2021.

The perfect candidate

Here’s what we require from you and your know-how:

• You have prior experience with Javascript web development and MERN stack

• You are well-organized and self-motivated, you get to plan your job very freely so good self-management skills are required

• You get motivated when reaching your goals

• You can handle stress well and finish your tasks in tight timeframes

• You are have used Heroku and Digitalocean in past

• You are familiar with Dokku and Docker

• You are fluent in English, good Finnish skills are an advantage
