At Tomorrow, we’re building tech products that address the climate crisis. Our first product, electricityMap, already has a meaningful impact on reducing carbon emissions thanks to our open-source approach and our partnerships with organisations like Google. We’re now focusing a large part of our efforts on Bloom, a solution to help organisations measure, understand and reduce their carbon footprint.

First and foremost, we’re looking for someone who’s friendly and wants to join us in trying to fight the climate crisis. We would like to see that you have relevant experience, have a structured approach to design, have good attention to detail, have an aptitude for learning new skills, and have empathy for your teammates and our customers.

About the role

We are looking for the first designer on our team. Climate change is a complicated topic. Our job is to make it simple to take climate action: clear, engaging design is critical for our success. You’ll be working with the rest of the team to make Bloom the go-to-solution for organisations that want to take climate action, making it a super smooth and good-looking experience from end-to-end. Secondarily, you’ll be responsible for creating brand and marketing assets.

Who we’re looking for

Years on the job matter, but to us, your personality, breadth of experience and your hunger to learn means more. This is what we’ll be focusing on. Even if you don’t fullfill all the skills listed below, do apply!

We’re a young startup solving an important problem, and with that brings high ambitions. This means that you need to be versatile and enjoy tackling something new.

As the ideal future teammate, you would have

  • A product designer by nature. The success of our products are heavily dependent on amazing UI/UX and it’s important to us that we build scalable, intuitive, and beautiful solutions.

  • Thrive in cross-functional teams. We build the best solutions when we collaborate closely.

  • Design leadership. We want you to own and drive anything design related.

  • Significant experience with building and maintaining design systems. Speed and consistency is important to us as we grow.

  • Critical thinking and concept development. We like to challenge each other to find the right problem and opportunities before finding solutions.

Bonus points for experience with

  • A flair for illustrations, video and animations. We believe that a strong brand will come to life through all sorts of different media.

  • A good understanding of code. We always find the best solutions in the intersection between user needs and technology. If you understand tech and feel comfortable with doing a few tweaks on your own, it’s a lot easier to find the best solutions.

You get excited by

  • Customers. You’re customer-focused and excited to spend time with them.

  • Collaborating with others.

  • Doing something good for humanity and our planet.

  • Understanding the core of a problem. Asking why a lot.

  • Taking on new challenges (at a startup you get to do a lot of different things).

Working at
Tomorrow

We're a tech startup that has the mission of quantifying, and making widely accessible, the carbon impact of the daily choices we make. By making the carbon cost of things ubiquitous, we empower people to make climate conscious decisions. We started with electricity, and thus built the electricityMap (electricitymap.org) that shows, in real-time, carbon emissions of the electricity we consume. Now we are moving to tackle other verticals.  In our team we value honesty and respectful discourse and we strive to create an inclusive, empowering and inspiring work environment. Our experience with electricityMap has solidified our view that open source communities are vital driver for collective action and we are committed to sharing open data and knowledge. We believe in the strength of diverse work environments and welcome applications from people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives. If you are looking to have a meaningful impact and work in a highly collaborative and creative team, consider joining us.
