So what are we looking for? 🧐
We want you to be a key player in a team that is building the product required to handle our rapid global growth. In other words, we are now looking for an experienced Back-end Developer. Our multidisciplinary team combines design, frontend and backend engineering, quality assurance and project management.
Why Brella & our product team? 🚀
A unique development project where you can truly see the impact of your work.
You get to be challenged daily to grow in a truly global team with one of the fastest-growing startups in Finland.
Lots of responsibility and room for growth.
Flexible working hours and great office facilities.
“Everyone in the product team is super talented, which makes me feel like I'm also really good at my job. It also leads to the trust that I can give my honest opinion and input about a certain problem, and others can do so also, so we can reach the best possible solution. So I feel like I bring value to the team.” (Brella’s CTO)
How would your daily work look like? 🖥️
As a backend developer at Brella, you'll be involved in the product development process from start to finish, from building new features to developing our architecture. You'll enjoy a high level of ownership of the features you work on.
Creating a world class product from research to implementation and operations.
Working together with PM, designers, back-end and front-end devs to ship features into production.
Writing jsonapi.org compliant REST APIs with Ruby on Rails, and testing them with RSpec request specs.
What kind of back-end developer are you? 🦄
You have good communication skills and ability to discuss software design decisions
You have excellent written and spoken English skills, meaning you can speak or write your thoughts out clearly. No Finnish language required.
You understand the concept of lean product development.
You have a generalist attitude and good team skills.
You have hands-on expertise in Ruby, preferably using Ruby on Rails, for 2-3+ years.
You have hands-on experience of deploying and scaling Ruby applications on the cloud.
You understand how the basic services of a web-application work in union.
You are comfortable with and have a deep understanding of relational databases.
You like to build features so that they are fast, performant and scalable.
You understand HTTP, REST APIs and JSON.
You know that the best possible code you can write is simple, well tested, and open for change. The kind of code that is just easy to read and follow, and has no weird quirks. It simply sparks joy.
You are comfortable with TDD/BDD and git - you understand why you write tests and what kind of benefits they give to the company as a whole - but you know that tests are written for you and your colleagues.
