Marketing / Communication Internship

Salary DKK 2,500 - DKK 5,000
Equity To be negotiated

We look for an intern that wants to design our marketing and communication strategy, to bring out the message of a lightweight acoustic piano coming to the world.

Keybird Instruments IVS is a start-up developing a lightweight acoustic piano, with circa 5 people involved in our developments at the moment. We are based in Hall of the Odd, just next to Kløvermaren on Amager, Copenhagen. We are in the prototyping phase and want to test our product on the market in the fall of 2020. That means that we have to start tuning and planning our communication. Many things are happening, so if you like the process of starting a company and all the little side things that happen in such a process, that will be to your advantage. We are convinced that sustainability and quality can go hand in hand. The transparency that is required to be sustainably responsible has shaped our brand and product and from this foundation we want our marketing and communication strategies to be developed.

We are looking for a Communication / Marketing Intern student to form, plan and streamline our communication and marketing plan prior to product release and with a strategy for the coming months and years.

We are developing a lightweight acoustic piano, hoping to offer the world a more practical keyboard instrument, without compromising on sound quality. Our mission is to bring diversity and accessibility to the world of acoustic pianos. It will of course be beneficial for you (and us) if you have some sort of a connection with this mission, however if you don’t you will also be considered, as you could offer a “neutral” view on the tasks at hand.

You are expected to be a self-starter, so that a brief explanation of what needs to be done is enough for you to know the bigger picture, so that you yourself can see what materials and tools are needed, and so that you can ask additional questions if needed (asking twice is better than not asking).

The work location (Hall of The Odd, next to Kløvermarken, north Amager) is part of a larger start-up community with everything from metal and wood workshops to electronics and event management and stage decoration. You do not have to be at our location always, but we do have an office space for you, to make the interaction more convenient. The product developers present in the company have some experience as well and can definitely be of help.

The official address of the main working location (Hall of the Odd): Raffinaderivej 20F, 2300 Copenhagen. If you can start working in the summer, that would be great – otherwise September would be fine too.

We are flexible on the timeline of the internship however we expect somewhere between 6 weeks and 3 months.

Our ideal candidate:

  • is a self starter

  • is student in relevant education for at least 1 year

  • is proficient in English and has skills to make appealing texts

  • likes innovation in general and is good at thinking out of the box

  • is not afraid to take initiative

  • knows the basics of graphic design

  • knows how to reach publication houses and how to expand network

  • is flexible and eager to learn

  • ideally has some affinity with music

This is an opportunity for you to be a part of developing a new brand and company, apply your skills and see a real impact from your work. We look forward to hearing from you.

Perks and benefits

This job comes with several perks and benefits

Working at
Keybird Instruments IVS

Keybird Instruments is developing a lightweight acoustic piano to help piano enthusiasts play with their preferred sound (acoustic) with a practicality and price comparable to that of digital pianos. Nine out of ten piano enthusiasts prefer acoustic sound, yet most play digital because of price, size and weight. We want to combine the best of both worlds. We can offer an acoustic piano that weighs only 40 + 15 kg, only occupying half a square meter of valuable living space. It can be transported in normal cars. The first model has a slightly reduced amount of keys (just like many digital keyboards) having all the keys for pop and jazz but also most of classical music in the first five years of music schools. We are in the Beta phase and will open up for sales in Autumn 2020. We use one string per key which allows us to build a piano significantly lighter, even with long strings to maintain optimal sound quality. We thus have a strong focus on sound quality, rather than loudness. We can reach the low price due to automated production here in Europe and a design strategy that allows this. We started this because we needed it for ourselves and saw the need for others. We asked all the piano enthusiasts we could reach and get the interest in our product confirmed. The huge market of acoustic and digital piano (we combine the benefits) is what keeps us in pace to release a great product.
