We are now searching for an experienced Director of Engineering who puts coaching over control and will lead our awesome engineering team in continuously delivering value to our customers.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a full-time Director of Engineering to join our engineering team based in Copenhagen. 

As our Director of Engineering you’ll take on a newly established and key role within Penneo, reporting to founder and CTO, Jan Flora. Together, you’ll be spearheading Penneo’s growth from a technology perspective and you’ll have a unique opportunity to set the direction and define the limitations, all in close collaboration with the Penneo founders and the entire Penneo team.

Preferably you have more than 3 years of experience leading engineering teams and have a solid understanding of software engineering through 5+ years of hands-on coding.

Your tech stack is not as important as your approach to continuous learning and inspiring your team to perform their best.

Your closest teammates will be the engineering and product team and your closest peers will be leaders from the commercial team and customer success.

What would be your responsibilities and mandate?

• Lead the engineering team

  • Continuously focus on engineers’ professional development in accordance with business requirements and individual preferences

  • Coach engineers individually to ensure personal development

  • Work closely with Product Management, Product Design and Delivery Management to ensure aligned collaboration

  • Expand team in accordance with company strategy

• Technical leadership

  • Provide architectural oversight 

  • Improve code practices and documentation

  • Decision-maker for selection of technology partners

  • Create guidelines for selection of engineering tools

  • Creation of technology solution roadmap

  • Responsible for continuously keeping security and compliance up-to-date

  • Right hand to the CTO (filling the role in the CTO’s absence)

• Business leadership

  • Contribute to growing collaboration across the entire Penneo team

  • Spearhead business development from a technology perspective

  • Contribute to company strategy from a technology perspective
