CC Athletics is creating a wrist-wearable fitness tracker, that tracks performance in basketball practice through gestures. The device works on a custom-made embedded electronics platform, but it is unclear how well it would work in a smartwatch (or fitness tracker) app. We are looking for a student to help us explore this!
The project could be a short one, that only focuses on implementing simple orientation/gesture recognition in an app. Or, if the student finds the topic exciting, it could involve user testing and much more, easily enough for, say, a bachelor’s project. We will help implement the gesture algorithm, maybe port it directly from existing code. What we need help with is user design and interface.
So if you find sports and tech interesting, and have some skill in either IOS, Android or Garmin etc. wearable development, don’t hesitate to contact us and find out more!
Right now, the position is only a temporary one, and well-suited for a student project. But if the results are positive, an entire app would of course have to be made, which could mean a longer coorporation. Perhaps as a student worker or freelancer.
