About Planday and the position

At Planday we are investing heavily in modernizing our tech stack by introducing battle-tested and open-sourced technologies like RabbitMQ, Kubernetes and Terraform to support our Cloud migration. We are seeking an ambitious Software Developer that wants to work with Cloud Native services and Container technologies.

You will be part of the Platform & Infrastructure team and will be collaborating closely with our 8+ different development teams with contributing to the continued development of an automated Microservice Platform running using Docker and Kubernetes. You will also be participating in core development of new features to key cross-domain services that ties directly to our product.

In Planday we develop and maintain a work-force management system that helps close to 400,000 employees manage their shifts, organize and communicate with their 5000+ employers. Our current platform serves more than 80 millions requests daily and our customer base stretches across many different industries and geographical regions.

We expect you to be an enabler for high developer efficiency and an ambassadeur for good coding and infrastructure practices. You believe that 'DevOps' is a culture and not a job-position, and eager to teach others the best ways of working efficient.

You are fluent in web technologies, especially on ASP.NET (core) and knows your way around Docker.

With the right mix of experience and curiosity you will be navigating across the boundaries between pure development, tooling, network, load-balancing, SQL databases and Site Reliability Engineering. The position requires you to work at the office in Copenhagen full time.

 

What You'll Do

  • Develop tools to improve instrumentation in our application and tool stack

  • Develop tools to enable our developers to work more efficiently

  • Migrate existing infrastructure, and build up new services on Azure

  • Expand our AKS/Istio service mesh deployment

  • Enable fast and reliable delivery of our applications to customers by maintaining, expanding and optimizing our current CI/CD pipeline

  • Develop and evangelize good practices when using Docker, Terraform, monitoring- and internal tools

  • Maintain and monitor our various services and main application

  • Take part in on-call rota within the team, handling production issues within and outside office hours

 

What We Expect From You

  • At least 2-3 years of developer experience

  • Experience with most aspects of the .NET Core (web and non-web) development

  • Experience or solid interest in Docker, Kubernetes and Cloud Native

  • Experience with MSSQL

  • Experience with Linux, git

  • Experience or solid interest with infrastructure as code

  • Dedicated to the best outcome rather than the fastest route, while fucussed on delivery according to our plans

  • Strong analytical skills, structure and creativity

  • Excellent communicative skills in English

  • A bachelor or master degree within the field of Computer Science, Informatics or relevant working experience

 

In addition, it would be an advantage if any of these match your profile

  • Experience with the following tools/services: TeamCity (CI), terraform, helm, Octopus, kubernetes, Istio

  • Experience working with virtualization (VMWare)

  • Experience with SRE / DevOps related work

  • Experience with Azure a plus
