Job summary

We are looking for Business Intelligence (BI) Developer who is passionate about developing meaningful and visually pleasing reports/dashboards utilizing various data sources in big data environments.

You have a strong background in report/dashboard building with common BI tools. You have an eye for visual details and UX when designing and building dashboards, and you possess a good understanding of data pipelines in order to retrieve data efficiently for various dashboarding purposes. Overall, you are equipped with analytical thinking and good communications skills, and you love to learn new things every day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into technical and visualization specifications

• Design and develop dashboards and visualizations to manipulate complex datasets into a simple, informative and intuitive format

• Understand where the needed data is located and design the process to retrieve the data

• Craft and execute queries upon request for data

• Extract, transform, and load data from a wide field of data sources into staging datasets & ultimately into visualization tools in close cooperation with data engineers and data scientists

• Develop and update technical documentation

Qualifications

• Competent and passionate about data visualization tools, methodologies, and techniques (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.)

• Excellent data storytelling and visualization skills

• Knowledge in relational databases, database design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and query building

• Some experience in cloud computing environments (e.g. Azure, AWS)

• Understanding of the principles of scrum/agile methodologies, and the design thinking approach

• UX skills (HTML5/CSS/JavaScript) are seen as an advantage

• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude and a proven ability in absorbing new knowledge quickly

• BSc or MSc degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience

• English and Finnish language skills appreciated
