Meeshkan, winners of the Slush 100 competition, recently made #1 on the list of Helsinki's best startups (https://bit.ly/helsinki-2019). We got there because we're building a fake version of the internet. Sound crazy? Try selling it! Yes, you, try selling it. If you're still reading, let's talk. Who wants to buy a corner of the fake internet? Ask the 100,000 companies building a public API, all of whom need a fake version of their APIs so that developers can test their services.
We are looking for a sales engineer that can pick up our various conversations with Slack, Netflix, PayPal, Twilio, and other companies big and small with a public API. They need a reliable fake version of their services so that:
their own developers can bring features to market faster; and
external developers can test and prototype against their APIs.
We are in the business of making fake APIs for these stakeholders, providing the fuel that drives the multi-billion dollar API economy.
We are a small company, and your job starts with prospecting and ends with closing deals, from tens of thousands of euros to millions of euros. There are hundreds of thousands of public APIs in the world, and millions more used by companies internally. All of these need reliable fake versions. Your job is to bring our world-class technology to the attention of companies big and small, listen, empathize, translate their business requirements into deals, and work with our talented development team to underpromise and overdeliver.
This requires, amongst other things, a disciplined and methodical approach to the sales process, the ability to think on your feet and make novel pitches to unexpected problems, and a straight-shooting direct link to the development team when we need to customize or correct course. We are a solution sales company at a time where solution sales has become unsexy. We are making it sexy again because every company's API is unique, and while we have an internal suite of tools that we use on customer collaborations, we have an inherently high-touch approach that is always building the business case with the client. Many of our clients are visionaries in their organizations who need to sell the value of APIs to their peers, so you're on their team too.
Meeshkan has been selling without a sales person, so you are our first sales hire. Embrace it, love it, fear it, and make something great out of the opportunity.
This requires being a great salesperson, but it also requires a strong technical background. While we do not expect you to be a developer, we expect you to understand how the development process works, where the pain points lie, who the stakeholders are, and how procurement and purchasing flows are orchestrated. We regularly have meetings with rooms full of developers and C-Suite executives from some of the world's most innovative tech companies, and your job would be to lead those meetings and convince a demanding audience that we are a trustworthy partner.
Our success as a company is built on our flagship Open Source projects, including unmock.io, the world's first and only JavaScript Open Source API Fuzz Testing library. We also looking for someone who understands the value of Open Source and how it can act as a gateway to novel business opportunities. The same team that develops our Open Source offering also develops our enterprise services, and success in one often determines success in the other.
Your day-to-day work would be fairly independent, but the entire team is always available for collaboration as a sounding board. We are low on formalities and high on substance, and in addition to our operational team, we have a broad network of advisors and investors that are always willing to help out in ideation and introductions. We have a generous office hours and vacation policy, but we are one of the most high-intensity and high-output companies in town due to the fast pace of our industry. Because of this, we are also hyper-sensitive to stress and wellbeing, and offer employees ample opportunities to recharge and feel good.
We are committed to fostering a diverse workplace, and we make it a special point to welcome candidates from underrepresented groups in tech companies. We know that, if you are part of one of these groups, you may have suffered from systemic industry-wide biases that make it more difficult for you to shine than other folks. We don't like that, and we are committed to evaluating every candidate on their own merits given their unique experiences.
We like people looking for a small base and generous commission. We like people that set bold monthly quotas. If you are hungry and determined to succeed, we'd like to work with you.
