Salary Competitive

GRIM is a start-up working to fight food waste. We do this in two ways: through our B2C GRIM subscription box containing ugly-by-nature organic and surplus fruit and vegetables. We sell our wonky produce also to B2B to food businesses. We've shipped our first box in July 2018 and have so far saved 40 tons of food. We are growing fast and are now looking to hire a part timer or student assistant to help run our operations on Tuesdays. So if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, read on!

Are you a hands-on hard worker with team leading qualities? Do you have an exceptional eye for detail and are used to carry big responsibilities? Then listen up!

The coolest start up in town is hiring an Operations Assistant. You would work closely with and directly under the Head of Operations. Operations at GRIM means making sure that our packing days, when we pack our ugly fruit & veg boxes, run smoothly. Our warehouse is located in Nordvest and we have 2 packing lines that need to be supervised. You'd be the one in charge of that!

There are 3 golden rules in an ugly fruit and veg box operation:

1) Making sure that produce in our boxes is of GRIM but top quality (meaning wonky but perfectly edible)

2) The packing of our boxes runs smoothly and according to our KPI's

3) Making sure that the boxes are organised in the correct way so they are ready to be handed over to our logistics partner

As our new Operations Assistant, you would be the second person in charge. We are glad to meet you if...

  • You are free on Tuesdays the entire day. This goes with no exception, since our packing days are on that specific day
  • You are a fast learner and fast worker
  • You are fit and can handle physically challenging work for a whole day from morning to evening: lifting pallets and boxes of produce
  • You are a finisher who goes home only when the job is done
  • You have an exceptional eye for detail and flaws
  • You can spot and correct mistakes on the spot and are aware of what is going on in your surroundings
  • You are comfortable with supervising a team of volunteers and speak up with authority when needed
  • You keep up the good spirits also during a long working day ;)
  • You are service-minded and friendly

This is how a typical Tuesday would look like:

BEFORE THE PACKING

  • You'll be the first in the warehouse and set up the packing area together with the Head of Operations
  • You'll make sure all the boxes needed for this week are prepped correctly: the right packaging, labels and number of boxes
  • You'll figure out how many boxes each delivery car & pick up spots get
  • You'll take care of our special request boxes (allergy requests etc)
  • You'll set up the packing line and figure out what type of produce goes on which station to ensure an optimal packing flow
  • You'll welcome and instruct volunteers
  • You'll help out with ad-hoc tasks

DURING THE PACKING

  • You'll be the last one at the packing line to quality-check our GRIM boxes before they are sealed and distributed to the different cars
  • You'll feedback the packers in real time who are with you on the packing line to ensure top GRIM quality and packing flow by solving bottlenecks

AFTER THE PACKING

  • You'll hand out boxes to our pick-up customers, who come to pick up their box from the warehouse in the afternoon / evening
  • You'll help clean up the space and close everything down.

We pay the hours you've worked with an hourly salary of 140 DKK. We'll begin with one month paid trial, and if it's a match we'll sign a contract for half a year to start with. Work hours per week can vary, but count minimum of 12 hours. Please note that there is A LOT to do, so we are open to discuss additional tasks and responsibilities if you are looking for working more than Tuesdays.

We value HANDS-ON experience and personality over an academic CV. It is important that the job gets done right :) We are looking forward to meet you!

Perks and benefits

Working at
EAT GRIM

EAT GRIM is a platform for ugly and surplus fruits and vegetables. We are fighting one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues: about 1/3 of fruits and vegetables produced are lost for aesthetic reasons or because they are overproduced - while we are worried that we can’t feed the growing populations of the world. So in 2018, we created EAT GRIM. We source the ugly and surplus produce directly from farms and bring it to the market in two ways: through a food box subscription to private consumers, making it easy for consumers to eat more sustainably. We also supply GRIM produce to food businesses that want to make their sourcing more sustainable and transparent. We're a small but hardcore team that works closely together to disrupt one of the most conservative and wasteful industries in the world. Up for the challenge? Then keep your eyes out for our job opportunities!
