We are an online medical clinic treating depression. We envision a world in which all people have the tools they need to overcome depression. We are scientists, engineers and experienced entrepreneurs who have come together to make depression treatment accessible, effective and truly outcome-driven. You will be part of Meru Health’s smart and skilled product team. You will be working mostly on our React Native mobile app. Our treatment is based on learning new skills, practicing them, and changing one’s behavior for the better. The mobile app plays an important role as it provides a platform to facilitate this process. You will play a key role in developing ways to make the learning and behavior change more effective, and in making the user experience great.

Responsibilities

• Development of Meru Health mobile app and ensuring high quality and great user experience
• Coming up with solutions to user problems together with our designer
• Coming up with best ways to accomplish teaching objectives together with our therapists
• Making technology choices and improving our development practices to make development more fun and helping us write quality code
• Sometimes interacting with users to understand their challenges and help them out

Skills & Qualities

• Technologies: React Native, Redux, plus if experience with native apps or modules (XCode, Android Studio)
• Ability to own complex development projects, from gathering requirements, to development, to collecting feedback and improving
• Basic understanding of great user experience, visual design, and thinking from the user’s point of view
• Ability to write clear and maintainable code
• Understanding of the inner workings of the web, common development and UX patterns and best practices
• Drive to understand things on a deeper level, always seeking for the root cause of the problem or understanding the underlying need in any proposed solution
• Being accustomed to writing unit and integration tests, but also being comfortable at balancing between speed and test coverage

Experience

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Working in a startup or similar highly demanding environment
