WasteHero brings dynamic pick-ups to private businesses and municipalities, so they only pay for emptying of full bins, saving up to 70% on their waste collection. Our tech is supported by IoT sensors mounted inside the bins. Our prediction algorithms get better and better at knowing when a bin is going to be full, feeding data into our smart route planning engine.

The problem

One global problem that we are aiming to solve is that, at the moment the waste bins in cities are emptied at regular time intervals. This approach is inefficient since it does not rely on knowing when the bins are full. Consequently, the containers are sometimes emptied when they are only half full or overfilled, leading to higher collection costs, increased traffic and air pollution.

The solution

Since Ioteelab’s mission is to ensure a more sustainable and connected future, we developed our smart waste collection solution in a way that allows for dynamic waste bin emptying, and that can solve this global problem. The solution consists of a fill level sensor, an online platform for analytics and dynamic route planning and a navigation software for waste collectors. Our solution enables cities and municipalities to increase their recycling efficiency by up to 40%. In the same time, our solution is easy to implement and maintain, have high durability, and affordable price.

Who we are

Our vision is to become the leading provider for smart waste tech using IoT and AI technologies and as our pilot projects are progressing rapidly together with the increasing number of our partners, we are now looking to expand our team with an enthusiastic marketing intern, who would join our office in the lovely city of Aarhus.
This year, IoTeelab has been awarded the Danish Innovation prize, and we are aiming for even more in 2019.

 The job

We are developing our own IoT Sensor Hardware and are looking for a talented software development intern to join the development team.

Responsibilities

• Develop SW for the sensor (C/C++)

• Ensure ideal SW & HW integration (STM32L0 processor)

• Software tests

• Set up bug/feature tracking

Qualifications

• Embedded SW experience with C/C++

• Version control (Bitbucket / Git)

Nice to have

• Experience working with IoT

• Knowledge of LPWAN technologies (Sigfox, Lorawan, NB-IoT)

• Experience working with ultrasonic & optical sensors
• Experience using Eclipse
