Our data pipelines dig deep into online news, blogs, social media, TV radio and traditional print from nearly all countries on the planet. We deal with the toughest data and software engineering challenges such as distributed data processing, firehosed data streams and fault-tolerant databases on top of usual ETL and data integration aspects. 

This position is in the Hypefactors Engineering team and you’ll be reporting directly to the CTO. Our engineering team is technically cross-functional, with expertises in digital design, embedded systems, backend, frontend, mobile, data engineering and data sciences. We function in a DevOps-manner and strive to improve ourselves through process-improvement, adopting and devising best-practices while doing scientific R&D in collaboration with universities.

Key Responsibilities

As an engineer, you’ll participate in the full life-cycle of our tech platform. This means that you’ll be expected to

• Plan the rollout for new data-heavy product features
• Architect, implement and operate the underlying data-pipelines
• Coordinate with fellow-engineers its integration with the backend, frontend and mobile apps

Along the way, you can take up additional responsibilities, such as

• Mentor graduates and (junior) engineers
• Manage key product features
• Strategic technology roadmap planning
• Data scientific experiments

Basic Qualifications

• Scala
• Akka
• MSc or PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics or other engineering/sciences

Desirable

• ElasticSearch
• Natural language processing
• Machine learning and/or Probabilistic programming
• Cloud architectures and/or DevOps
