We are hiring a Cloud Operations Engineer to strengthen and focus our efforts on Google Cloud Platform, assisting and working for our Product Teams.

As a Cloud Operations Engineer at Unacast you will be working together with our Product Teams, helping us to further improve our commitment to running scalable, well designed, and cost effective solutions on Google Cloud Platform. You will be embedded in many of our teams, and function as a in-house specialist on the technologies we use, and your focus will be on making the teams as efficient as possible while also contributing on key components. The position will report directly to our VP of Engineering. 

Our teams are cross-functional, consisting of data scientists, product managers, sales representatives, and other engineers. Your main hub will be at our spectacular Oslo offices, but you are free to work from anywhere you want as long as you get things done. You’ll also have the opportunity to work out of our NYC offices for periods of time, and you can expect to travel there at least a couple of times every year. 

At Unacast we’re utilizing Google’s cutting-edge technology, like BigQuery, DataFlow, Cloud Functions, Kubernetes and AppEngine. Here you will have the opportunity to learn how to use these tools intimately. We use different languages for different tasks, such as Java, Go, and Clojure, or whatever tool or language that gets the job done. You may or may not have experience with these tools and technologies already, but all we ask is that you are interested in learning something new every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take ownership of our cloud stack together with the product teams
• Advise our teams on how to best utilize the products we use
• Help make our teams efficient through improving deployment and monitoring
• Create and enforce best practices on ACL, security, availability, performance and resilience across our entire stack
• Make sure that Unacast continues to be on the forefront of Big Data processing in the cloud
• Help teams automate repetitive tasks, and increase developer speed
• Evaluate different architectures looking both at performance and cost

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong software development skills
• Experience with cloud processing of large data amounts
• Experience with running 24x7 deployments on either Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services or other comparable experience
• Solid understanding of cloud based security
• Experience creating and maintaining deployment pipelines
