PR & Communication Internship for Accelerator Program in Nairobi (Kenya)

Pangea Funds is an investment and competence development platform that connects African startups with competence, network and capital. By combining education, investment, mentorship, we train high-impact driven African startups as well as investors, and match them with mentors and investors. By doing so, we make it easy for diaspora and angel investors to mentor and invest in startups in undeveloped financial markets.


We focus on high-impact pre-revenue and revenue startups that are solving issues in the Education, Health Care, Fintech and Agriculture sectors, as well social sand infrastructural while providing jobs and maintaining profitability. We are starting our pilot of Accelerator program in January 2018, in collaboration with @iBizAfrica and Strathmore University in Nairobi. We are looking for an intern responsible of PR and communication for our accelerator program in Nairobi.

Jobs Description:

The intern will be a part of the Accelerator Program team, working closely with out Accelerator Director and Accelerator Manager. If you are passionate about PR and communication, plugged into the startup scene in Nairobi and loved to be a part of building success startups in Kenya, then Pangea Funds is the place for you. 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and support the rollout of the accelerator program
  • Assist in content creation and management in social media channels to drive traffic, engagement, and to ensure that content is timely and relevant
  • Manage the content marketing schedule (posts & updates) across social media platforms and blogs and ensure proper messaging is being executed online
  • Help design communication material using different tools
  • Write and manage posts, blogs, mailings and newsletters
  • Liaise with journalists, bloggers, and writers in the Kenyan and East Africa startups ecosystem
  • Curate relevant external resources; maintain contact with key players in the Kenyan startup ecosystem
  • Refine social media strategy and best practices
  • Prepare weekly updates and reports to track growth and success rates of campaigns
  • Keep up to date and informed on new social media trends and adapt accordingly 

Experience and qualifications :

  • A bachelor degree (or currently enrolled student) in communication or marketing
  • Prior relevant experience in startups or other will compensate for education
  • Understand how to use emerging platforms, digital media, and web/social media management and measurement tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Photoshop skills; Illustrator and InDesign skills would be a plus
