How we work

We believe in release early, release often which is why we currently run many daily releases using our continuous integration and deployment setup. We work in small teams at about 2-3 people each, focusing on minimal overhead and bureaucracy as we want to ensure independence and decision power stay within the teams. This means that teams have a lot of influence on how they work, what they focus on and how they deliver new features and functionality.

We are currently using Sketch as our primary design application, combined with a mix of Abstract for collaboration and versioning purposes, Framer and Principle for rapid testing and prototyping, Affinity Designer/Illustrator for vector graphics and print. Our setup is constantly improving and we make an effort to keep track of and test competing new tools such as Figma and Invision Studio.

The position

As a designer at Connected Cars, you will partake in defining the visual identity of our mobile and web apps for Volkswagen, ŠKODA, SEAT, Audi, and Connected Cars’ own brand. You will be part of the product team working closely with our UX designers, setting the direction of design and intuitive user experiences in our apps. You will be responsible for fine tuning and perfecting existing UI as well as designing new product features.

You are deeply passionate about design and you take pride in being the one who cares about the minute details that turn a good user interface and experience into a GREAT one.

Tools and skillset

You are comfortable behind the wheels of most of the following:

• Working with wireframes, mood-boards
• Designing visual prototypes and user flows in Sketch (Figma/Photoshop or similar) that users will embrace
• Skilled in transforming user driven requirements into polished design layouts ready for browser and app implementation
• A good understanding and interest of how your designs turn into code
• A strong focus on quality and an eye for the details that matter
• Good understanding of designing for a great end-to-end experience
• Giving and receiving honest, constructive feedback
• Building and working with assets libraries
• Agile environments with cross functional teams
• Staying up-to-date with new tools and techniques
• Portfolio website or Dribble/Behance account showcasing prior experience

Pluses…

• User testing in Framer/Principle/Invision or similar
• Experience in front-end implementation (markup and styling)
• Animation experience with Framer/Principle/After Effects
• Design versioning and collaboration in Abstract or Figma
